1. First Buckner Family Home Marker
Inscription. This is the location of the original Buckner family homestead. Colonel Avory Musteen Buckner, his wife Margaret Sturgeon Buckner, and family migrated from Simpsonville, Kentucky to Hensley Township on October 5, 1835. Col. Avory Buckner founded Liberty which later combined with Trafalgar and Hensleytown, all becoming known as Trafalgar. Col. Avory Buckner died in Franklin in 1893 and Margaret Sturgeon Buckner died September 2, 1861. They are both buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
