El Duque Fernando de Alba, al heredar el Palacio de Buenavista, mando demoler el antiquc edificio y encargo, al arquitecto Juan Pedro Arnal el proyecto para el nuevo palacio, cuyas obras se comenzaron en el año 1777. El palacio pasó a ser propiedad de Godoy, donación del ayuntamiento que lo compró a la Casa de Alba.
Tras la expropiacion de todos los bienes de Godoy, Buenavista pasó a la titularidad del Ramo de Guerra que en el año 1801 y hasta 1873 realizó grandes obras de reforma y ampliación con proyectos de los ingenieros militares José Maria Aparici y Luis Martin del Yerro
A partir del año 1939, se micteron obras de remodelacion en las que se elevo una planta más, hasta darle al palacio el aspecto actual para alojar al ministerio del ejército, hoy dia quartel general del ejército

Buenavista Palace

Upon inheriting Buenavista Palace, Duke Fernando de Alba ordered the demolition of the old building and commissioned architect Juan Pedro Arnal to design the new palace, whose construction began in 1777. The palace later became the property of Godoy, a donation from the city council, which purchased it from the House of Alba.
Following the expropriation of all of Godoy's properties, Buenavista came under the ownership of the War Department, which carried out extensive renovations and expansions between 1801 and 1873, based on projects by military engineers José María Aparici and Luis Martín del Yerro.
From 1939 onwards, further remodeling work was undertaken, adding another floor and giving the palace its current appearance to house the Ministry of the Army, now the Army Headquarters.
