Inscription. Daniel Mackay Trench
Son of Francis Charlotte MacKay and Daniel Power Trench was born Kingston, Jamaica on Ja​n. 29, 1867. He was educated at Padcroft College, a boys boarding school near London, and at Glasgow Academy, Glasgow, Scotland. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1888. On May 28, 1890, married Caledonia Armstrong, dau. of Martha Jane Isbell and George Armstrong in Waelder, Tx. On Mar. 3, 1900, he filed on 161.15 acres 11 miles N.W. of Francis (Vinson). For almost 50 yrs., Daniel and Callie were involved in church, school, and community activities of Carl. Callie died April 18, 1952; Daniel on October 9, 1964. Buried in Independence Cemetery. All twelve of their children survived them: Fanny Smith, Mattie Setser, Ester Crowley, Winston, Everett, Jessie, George, Lucille Downs, Daniel Jr., Katherine Hamilton, Mildred Hunter, and Nadine Minyard.

Fredie Lee Crowley
He was the son of William A. Crowley of Missouri by way of Tarrant County, Texas and Lenora Proctor Crowley of Illinois. He was born Nov. 5, 1893 at Marlow, Okla. (then Indian Territory). He moved with his family to Old Greer County in 1896 where they filed on land. In 1910 his father bought farm and ranch land in the Carl community, northwest of Vinson. There he met Ester Trench. They were married May 28, 1916. Three children were born: Helen (Mrs. Bud Overton), Herman and Melba (Mrs. Don Fox). They moved to Hollis, Okla. in 1936. He was county sheriff of Harmon County 1943 & 1944. He retired in 1958 enjoying fishing, tending their farm & cattle. He was loved by his family & friends. A member of First Baptist Church Hollis. He died March 19, 1974. Buried in Independence Cemetery. Fred's cattle brand Lazy F Bar.
