Mandeville in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana — The American South (West South Central)
Rest Awhile
Mandeville Historic Site
Rest Awhile, the name given to the property in 1905, consists of the Hadden Cottage (1850s), Frapart Hotel (1880s) and Sophie Wright Cottage (1916).
In the 1880s, the Frapart Hotel was the center of social life in Mandeville. In 1905, the property was donated to the Kings Daughters and Sons for use as a charitable retreat.
In 2005 Hurricane Katrina devastated the property, leaving it to decay for almost a decade.
Barrett McGuire bought the property in 2014 and started a 7-year restoration, partnering with Chyrl and Pat Gallagher to open Pat's Rest Awhile in late 2020.
The journey could not have been completed without the help and support of our family, friends, and:
