1. Mountville School and Sunnyside Church Marker
Inscription. The Mountville community was established by formerly enslaved people after emancipation. Many purchased land by mortgaging their homes. Before completion of the school and church, services were held in homes. The Mountville School was completed ca. 1888 and the Board of Education allowed the building to be used for Sunday worship. The Sunnyside Church was constructed ca. 1899 and is now Sunnyside New Life Community Church.
