1. Christ Church Marker

Inscription. This church was built by James Purcell as a satellite chapel for St. Thomas' Anglican Church in St. John's. Its size and simple design reflects its once-rural setting. Christ Church was a location in Canada's first non-silent film, The Viking (1931). In the 1960s a campaign to prevent its demolition bred the NL Historic Trust.
