*Mi'Kma'Ki Indian camps have been found around Rustico Bay dating back 6000 years.
*Jacques Cartier sailed along this north shore in 1534.
*Rene Rassicot fished off Rustico in 1729 & gave the area its name.
*Acadians first settled North Rustico in 1790.
*Most present day residents are direct descendants of the original Acadian settlers.
* There are presently 5 Rusticos: North Rustico, South Rustico, Rusticoville, Rustico Harbour and Anglo- Rustico.
