1. Isaiah & Ellen Snuggs House Marker

Inscription. The Snuggs house may have been built by John Ross during the early 1850's. About 1865, he sold the cabin to Lafayette Greene, who at one time used it as his law office. In 1873, Greene sold the house to Isaiah Snuggs, who had recently relocated to Albemarle from the Norwood area. About 1880, Snuggs and his wife Ellen, began to enlarge the house by adding a second story and a new kitchen. Snuggs served the county as sheriff and various other roles until his death in 1904. Today the home is owned by the Stanly County Historical Society.
