Ocean Springs in Jackson County, Mississippi — The American South (East South Central)
L&N Depot
The Louisville & Nashville Railroad depot in Ocean Springs was constructed in 1907 and replaced an earlier depot. Once part of a complex of buildings, including a roundhouse, pumphouse, and bandstand, the L&N Depot was also the location of the Western Union office. The depot was decommissioned on April 20, 1965, when the railroad discontinued services along the Gulf Coast. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the L&N Depot is a designated Mississippi Landmark.
