Inscription. Formed shortly after 1900, West Side Mission functioned under the First Baptist Church and initially utilized the First Christian Church's original building. The mission was organized into a church, Emmanuel Baptist, in 1913. The church built a new structure in 1923 and formally changed its name to Immanuel Baptist Church around 1935. A new structure was dedicated at its present location in 1949 and, over the years, the property has expanded. Members provided assistance to international families in need during the Vietnam War and completed multiple mission trips across the globe. Through service and outreach, Immanuel Baptist Church continues to be a beacon of light in the community.
