1. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial

Inscription. The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Statue in the Chinese Garden was erected and presented to the State of Hawaii by the Hawaii Dr. Sun Yat-sen Centennial Memorial Committee on November 12, 1965. This date was the Centennial Anniversary of his birth. The statue was erected to honor Yat-sen Chung-shan Wen Sun, Father of the Republic of China, who was born on November 12, 1866, and died on March 12, 1925. Sun Yat-sen was an advocate for freedom, equality, and humanitarianism. He helped the weak and worked toward realizing universal justice.
