Inscription. Jokum and Maren Sundet and their three children, Ole, Mathea, and Karen, settled near the now defunct town of Medary in 1871. They built this home from local timbers in 1872. It was located a short distance Northwest of where the Interstate-29 bridge crosses the Sioux River ten miles South of Brookings. The cabin was moved to this museum site in 1974. In 2018 volunteers replaced its rotted North foundation log and then re-chinked the entire cabin.
