George Washington Boyd
Captain Boyd was born Sept. 12, 1859, in Coryell County, Texas. He was the son of James and Elizabeth Boyd.
He came to what was later Old Greer County in 1876 with buffalo hunters as a skinner. Two years later he entered the cattle business, and in the cattle business, made many trips to Dodge City, Kansas with cattle herds.
On Feb. 22, 1893, he married Maggie Isler. They had four children: Wesley born in 1894, Albert born in 1902 and two daughters died in infancy.
He founded the first National Bank in Mangum in 1900 and he was active in this bank until his death in August of 1937.
He owned cattle ranches in both Texas and Oklahoma, the Diamond Cross was his cattle brand. Mr Boyd passed away on Aug. 25, 1937.
Louis Tittle
The first white child born in Greer County, Dec. 14, 1887. Son of S.H. Tittle whо was Greer Co. Sheriff for 28 years.
State Highway Commissioner for many years, served as chairman, vice chairman and member.
Pioneer, rancher, cattleman, county treasurer, school board member and good citizen.
States highway, bridges near Clinton, Erick and Granite were named for him. Mangum's north-south highway is Louis Tittle Ave.
Graduate of Granite High School. Father of I.A. Dean, B.P. Igham. Brother of Lem H., Leo F. and Jennie M. Stimson.
