Inscription. Erected by the Evangelical Lutheran Augustan Synod of North America in grateful recognition of its pioneer missionaries Pastor Lars Paul, Esbjφrn and his wife, in whose home, three blocks south of this corner, the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church of Andover Illinois, the Mother Church of the Augustana Synod was organized on March 18, 1850
