1. Baton Rouge River Center Marker
Inscription.
Built originally in 1977 and known as the "Riverside Complex", the Baton Rouge River Center Campus is the city's premier multipurpose facility for conventions and large public events. The 2,000 seat Theatre for Performing Arts is home to the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra and the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre and hosts entertainment from around the world. The Arena welcomes concerts, sporting events, and family shows throughout the year. The sleek Grand Ballrooms and Convention Center provide more than 200,000 sq ft of state of the art event space. The complex is adjacent to Repentance Park and Galvez Plaza a vibrant plaza and sculpture garden.
The Center received a $19 million renovation in 2011 to accommodate larger and more frequent events and conventions. Renovations included a 16-foot video marquee, valet parking new box office, and a 20,000 sky-lit breezeway with nine meeting rooms.
