1. Texas Bowl Marker

Inscription.
Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier threw for 313 yards and three TDs in leading LSU to a 44-31 win over Baylor in the Texas Bowl in Houston. LSU raced out a 28-7 lead and never trailed in the contest as the Tigers finished their season on a 3-game winning streak and with a 9-4 mark. Trey'Dez Green scored the first of his two touchdowns on a 10-yard reception from Nussmeier to open the scoring for the Tigers. On the ensuing possession, Davhon Keys returned an interception 41 yards, giving the Tigers a 14-0 first quarter lead. A Chris Hilton 41-yard TD reception made it 21-7 and Green's second touchdown stretched the LSU advantage to 28-7 midway through the second quarter. LSU led 34-17 at halftime. After Baylor pulled to within 34-24, a 1-yard run by Josh Williams pushed the LSU lead to 41-24 early in the fourth quarter and the Bears never got closer than the final margin. Nussmeier earned game MVP honors after completing 24-of-34 passes for 313 yards and three touchdowns.
