1. Citrus Bowl Marker
LSU exploded for 589 yards of total offense in rolling to a 63-7 win over Purdue in the 2023 Cheez-It Citrus Bowl in Orlando. The Tigers captured their 10th win, in the process joining the 1961 LSU squad as the only teams in program history to lose its first game of the season and still go on to win 10 games. The Tigers finished their first season under head coach Brian Kelly by capturing the SEC Western Division title with a 10-4 mark. After punting on its first possession of the game, LSU scored touchdowns on its next five possessions, building a 35-0 halftime lead. LSU led by as much as 49-0 late in the third quarter before Purdue finally got on the scoreboard. Wide receiver Malik Nabers earned game MVP honors, catching 9 passes for 163 yards, including a 75-yard TD reception from Garrett Nussmeier. He also threw a TD pass to quarterback Jayden Daniels in the third quarter.
