1. McKay Hall Marker

Inscription. This residence Hall, opened in 1965, honours the memory of Alexander C. McKay who, beginning in 1890, was successively Professor of Mathematics and Physics, Registrar, Dean of Arts, and Chancellor of McMaster University, then located in Toronto. In those days the Chancellor was the executive head of the institution.

Under his dynamic and skilful leadership, 1905-1911, the work of the University in the sciences was much expanded, the faculty was greatly strengthened, and the number of students grew impressively.

In 1911 Dr. McKay left the University to pursue a fruitful career in the development of technical education in Ontario.
