Under his dynamic and skilful leadership, 1905-1911, the work of the University in the sciences was much expanded, the faculty was greatly strengthened, and the number of students grew impressively.
In 1911 Dr. McKay left the University to pursue a fruitful career in the development of technical education in Ontario.
