1. M1 Anti-Tank Gun Marker

Inscription. Since the introduction of the tank in the First World War, infantry units have been vulnerable to tank attack. As more and more armor was added to tanks, traditional infantry weapons were rendered useless. To cope with this situation, anti-tank guns were deployed with all infantry formations. The M1 was derived from the British 6-pounder anti-tank gun. When fired, its recoil was so violent that its wheels actually left the ground. This trait made the M1 highly unpopular with crewmembers. (especially those whose job it was to look through the telescope and train the sights), but it could penetrate 2.87 inches of face-hardened armor plate at 1,000 yards.
