Born in Jigger, by the age of 9, Puddler found his calling as a piano player, entertaining folks at his familys general store. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Marines. Returning home, Puddler became the staff pianist with the Louisiana Hayride, where he played with many legends including Johnny Horton. Puddler, along with fellow Hayride musicians & North La. band mates, Fred Carter Jr., Joe Osborn & James Burton, moved to Hollywood where he became a member of Ricky Nelsons band, touring worldwide, & appearing on national TV. His Boogie Woogie style soon led to studio work with popular acts of the 1960s. After moving to Nashville, Puddler became a sought-after session player, helping set the standard for many country music hits. He then went on tours with Loretta Lynn, his old friend Conway Twitty & Gov. Jimmie Davis. In Puddler's later years, he became executive director of the Lake Charles Civic Center & a widely respected musical consultant.
