Inscription. In memory of Revolutionary War Patriot Joseph Ray, Sr. took oath of fidelity - 1778 - MD. Born 29 May 1736 Anne Arundel County, MD. Died 2 May 1819 Washington County, KY and his wife Mary Sheckel 25 August 1745 Anne Arundel County, MD 24 September 1826 Washington County, KY.

Ray Anna Victor of Spokane Valley, WA is a descendant of the Rays and, with her DAR chapter, the Jonas Babcock Chapter, sponsored this marker for both husband and wife. She and other DAR members, other descendants, and well-wishers gathered in October 2021 to dedicate the marker for her ancestors.
