Inscription.
The first retail structure in the new development of Montrose was constructed in 1913 and opened to January of 1914. The original tenant was T.O. Potts, who moved his general store here from La Crescenta. By late 1915 Potts moved across Verdugo Road to open a gas station and market. The next tenant was the first financial institution in Montrose, the Montrose State Bank. In the century since, the building has hosted many different businesses, but it still looks almost the same as it did in 1914.

Erected by Montrose Shopping Park Association, Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley, and Boy Scout Troop 317.
