The April 6, 1911 Bayfield Blade reported “Dr. E. W. Newland has commenced the erection of a large dwelling on his orchard tract just north of Bayfield. This house will be modern in every particular. Bayfield is rapidly becoming a town of beautiful homes.” The January 4, 1912 Bayfield Blade reported that Dr. Newland had moved his family into their new and modern residence. The building was constructed from a Sears Catalog design plan; it appears to be a combination of two floor plans, the “Clyde” and the model “No. 119.” The Newland Family lived here from 1912 until the early 1940s.
