Hutchinson Island South in Fort Pierce in St. Lucie County, Florida — The American South (South Atlantic)
Frog Feet
The Grinder is the area where physical training (PT) is conducted. "Frog Feet" were painted-and often repainted-on the concrete to designate the lineup position of each BUD/S trainee for PT sessions. There were approximately 200 of these feet to accommodate BUD/S classes, which typically start out large.
When the compound was being demolished in 2020, dozens of the Frog Feet were cut out and given to those who wished to preserve the legacy of where these trainees stood from the early 1970s until 2020.
This slab of the original concrete deck of The Grinder was donated to the Museum to forever preserve the history and legacy of the BUD/S candidates who forged the way before.
Erected by National Navy UDT-Seal Museum.
