1. Thomas-Conner House Marker

Inscription.
William Howard Thomas of the Roanoke Valley built the Thomas-Conner House in 1878, for $10,000. He commissioned the Italianate-style home for his daughter Mary Virginia, who married John Conner, a professor of Mechanical Arts at Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College (now Virginia Tech). The house features unique architectural details such as the semi-circular arches above its windows.

Owned by the Town of Blacksburg, the Thomas-Conner House is listed in the Virginia Landmarks Register and The National Register of Historic Places.
