Inscription. The Vietnam Living Memorial recognizes over 360 Vietnam Vet men and women who were born in Key West (Conchs), lived or were stationed here or the Lower Keys prior to the war's end, April 30, 1975. The six black granite panels honor our citizen soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen, coast guardsmen and merchant marines who served in-country Vietnam faithfully, many of whom eventually came home to Key West to work locally, raise families, and become important additions to the future of our patriotic city. The Vietnam Battle Map depicts the major actions of the war in both North and South Vietnam, along with the major towns and cities so named at the time. Honored with remembrance and hope are the 57 Floridians still missing in action and unaccounted for POW/MIAs. Of particular local note, the Vietnam war's longest field POW (nine years), Col. Floyd J. Thompson, retired to Key West and passed in 2002. The Vietnam panel scenes illustrate the country before and during the war years. Images shown depict some of the things they carried. Note the conch shell on the military helmet and our Maritime Memorial Museum ship, the USCG

Ingham. The Fallen Soldier Battle Cross (helmet, rifle, boots) and the ALL GAVE SOME, SOME GAVE ALL monument honor the 36 Key Westers who paid the ultimate price for their country. First erected in 1968 and again dedicated in 1973, it was the first memorial dedicated in the State of Florida to Vietnam Veterans.

Freedom is not Free!
Veterans Memorial Garden
The 12 War pedestals recognize the major wars the United States lies been involved in through the past 200 years, and along with the 1862 Yellow Fever Monument are an integral part of the Veterans Memorial Garden here at Bayview Park. The Civil War Forgotten Soldier statue and the Korean War Monument honor Key Westers who proudly served in those respective conflicts. We are also extremely proud of and recognize all our post 9/11 Middle East Conflict Warriors. The engraved brick garden recognizes all servicemen, servicewomen and veterans from all wars who served their country with great distinction. Thank you for visiting! We are very proud of these sacred grounds. Welcome home, gratitude and peace to all our Veterans! To register your visit, please sean our QR code
