Inscription. Assistant Surgeon, U.S. Army; who died at this post of Yellow Fever, September 8th. 1867, in the 30th. year of his age.

In admiration of his virtues as a man, of his zealous and impartial conduct as an officer, and his devotion to his profession; Companies L. M. I. & K. of the 5th. Artillery have erected this monument, to mark their estimate of services which were nobly closed in the path of duty.
