Inscription. The F-15 is a twin-engine, all-weather tactical fighter aircraft, designed in 1969 to meet the Air Force’s need for a dedicated air superiority fighter. It first flew in 1972 and entered operational service in 1976. It is among the most successful modern fighters in the world, with over 100 victories and no losses in aerial combat.

At Nellis, the F-15C and two-seat D-model were used for training, operational test, and as an aggressor aircraft to simulate adversary capabilities. Displayed here is F-15D 78-0567 representing the Aggressor Mission in a “desert” paint scheme. This aircraft is on loan from the National Museum of the United States Air Force.
