1. F-111A Marker

Inscription. The F-111A, a variable wing, long-range, supersonic fighter-bomber, used terrain following radar and was designed for all weather, day or night, operation. The first fighter to use turbofan engines, the F-111A flew over 3500 sorties with only six losses to become the most survivable aircraft in Southeast Asia. At Nellis the aircraft was assigned to the 474th Tactical Fighter Wing and was also used by the Fighter Weapons School and Tactics Development and Test Organizations.
