1. Personville Marker
Inscription.
Behind this marker is the townsite of Personville, begun in 1854 by Benjamin D. Person, Sr. The 1855 postmaster was Wm. Person. Grayson Masonic Lodge No. 205 was chartered in 1861 and demised in 1889. The Nelleva cut-off, built in 1906, was abandoned in 1933. J. D. Hudson was the first teacher in the district school, 1908. By 1915 the town had a blacksmith shop, lumber yard, bank, hotel, 12 mercantiles, two drugstores and three doctors; Dr. G. H. Stephens was outstanding. A fire razed the town in October 1916. Though rebuilt, it soon faded away, and the post office was abolished in 1952.
