On the 7th thru the 25th of January 1953, the fifteenth year of the glorious reign of His Holiness Pope Pius XII, being President of the Republic of the Philippines His Excellency Elpidio Quirino, the First Plenary Council of the Philippines was celebrated in this Church of San Augustin, the deliberative sessions having taken place in this choir loft, presiding His Eminence Norman Thomas Cardinal Gilroy of Sydney, Australia, legate a latere of His Holiness Pope Pius XII.
