Destacó en el deporte, siendo plusmarquista nacional, atleta olímpico en triatlón, seleccionado nacional de basquetbol y fondista. Ejerció también como profesor de matemáticas y construcción, pero su legado máximo lo alcanza por su protagonismo en la práctica y enseñanza de la arquitectura urbana, siendo uno de los precursores de esta en su país.
Calificado como un Hombre Renacentista, Recinos nunca gustó de ser centro de atención, ni buscó fama en su trabajo. No obstante, debido a la magia de su obra, la relevancia de su ingenio y el tamaño de sus creaciones, Recinos no pasa desapercibido en el paisaje urbano, siendo sus obras detalles característicos de la Ciudad Capital de Guatemala
Efraín Enrique Recinos Valenzuela (Quetzaltenango, May 15, 1928 - Guatemala City, October 2, 2011), known as Efraín Recinos, was a Guatemalan engineer, urban planner, painter, sculptor, muralist, set designer, inventor and homo universalis.
He excelled in sports; being a national record holder, Olympic triathlon athlete, national basketball team member and long-distance runner. He also worked as a mathematics and construction teacher, but his greatest legacy is achieved by his role in the practice and teaching of urban architecture, being one of the precursors of this in his country.
Qualified as a Renaissance Man, Recinos never liked to be the center of attention, nor did he seek fame in his work. However, due to the magnitude of his work, the relevance of his ingenuity and the size of his creations, Recinos does not go unnoticed in the urban landscape, his works being characteristic details of the Capital City of Guatemala.
