Inscription.
The goal was to attract people from the North to settle here to grow rice and citrus fruit. The founding fathers advertised that the bay waters had healing powers and claimed that there were no mosquitos! Enticing the railroad to come to Palacios in 1903 was a huge advantage, bringing both people and goods.

Did you know? Rumor has it that when founders wanted to impress buyers with bountiful orange trees, they would tie additional fruit onto the branches!
