The only fire in the Hotel occurred on February 27, 1944. It burned part of the third floor of the middle section and the east wing. It required both the Palacios and Camp Hulen fire departments to extinguish the blaze. Mr. Luther immediately repaired the Hotel to a better condition than it had been.
