Bulldozers? Save The Luther
| | Hotel Fence Wrap Exhibit Walk | |
In November 2022, Preservation Texas issued an alert calling the Luther Hotel, "The Most Endangered Building in Texas." Jack Findley died without a will and his estate was selling the land to a charitable foundation. The contract required that the family demolish the historic building. The Texas Historical Commission issued a 90-day moratorium, and the alert came when half of that time had already passed. In response, the citizens of Palacios rallied to form the Palacios Preservation Association, drawing significant media attention to their cause and working tirelessly to save the Hotel.
