1. William H. Gleason Home Marker

Inscription.
William Hunt Gleason was sent to Florida by the War Department in 1865 to tour the southern portion of the state to determine the feasibility of establishing a colony for former slaves. In 1868 he won election to the post of Florida Lieutenant Governor and resigned in 1870.

The William H. Gleason house was built around 1892. The family owned and lived in the house until 1990. Isabel Gleason was the last Gleason family member to live in the home until she died.
