Der Dichter und Homerübersetzer wurde 1805 an die Universität berufen. In der literarischen Fehde mit den Romantikern bekannte er sich zu den Grundsätzen der Aufklärung. 1814 und 1815 besuchte ihn hier Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
Das Voßsche Haus wurde 1903 abgerissen.
Here lived, from 1807 until his death, Johann Heinrich Voß (1751–1826). The poet and translator of Homer was appointed to the university in 1805. In the literary feud with the Romantics, he declared his adherence to the principles of the Enlightenment. In 1814 and 1815, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe visited him here. The Voß House was demolished in 1903.
