1. St. James and Caledonia Marker
Inscription. Jefferson School, built on the opposite corner in 1948-49, replaced the Fifth Ward School constructed on the site in 1877. A one-room school was built on the same site in the 1850s when the North Side was the Village of North La Crosse.
 
Erected 1999 by the City of La Crosse, the City's Historic Preservation Commission and the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development. (Marker Number 6.)
