Nach der alten Tafel des Gasthauses „Zum Grossen Fass“
Dieser Erweiterungsbau des Rathauses ist am 27. Jan. 1961 nach einer Bauzeit von 18 Monaten seiner Bestimmung übergeben worden. Ein gütiges Geschick möge ihn vor Unbilden bewahren.
Bis zum Jahre 1956 stand an dieser Stelle das Gasthaus „Zum Grossen Fass“. Im 18. Jahrh. über den Kellergewölben mittelalterlicher Gebäude errichtet, war es Nachfolgerin eines älteren Gasthauses gleichen Namens unweit von hier, das 1693 der Stadtzerstörung zum Opfer fiel.

This extension building of the town hall was inaugurated on January 27, 1961, after a construction period of 18 months. May a kindly fate preserve it from adversity.
Until 1956, the inn “Zum Grossen Fass” stood on this site. Built in the 18th century above the vaulted cellars of medieval buildings, it was the successor to an older inn of the same name nearby, which fell victim to the destruction of the city in 1693.
