1. Entwicklung zum Markt / Development into a Market Town Marker

Mit der Verleihung des Marktrechtes im 13. Jahrhundert entwickelte sich neben „Schnaittach, dem Dorfe“„Schnaittach, der Markt“.

Die Eigentümer der Bürgerhäuser am Marktplatz lebten fast ausschließlich von Handwerk und Handel. Daneben betrieben sie nicht selten die Landwirtschaft zur Deckung des Eigenbedarfes. Es entstand das sogenannte Ackerbürgertum. Nach der Zerstörung des, „Städtleins auf dem Rothenberg“ im Jahre 1449 erfuhr, „Schnaittach, der Markt“ einen Wachstumsschub, verursacht durch den Zuzug der obdachlos gewordenen Handwerker und Händler. Die weitläufigen, teilweise miteinander verbundenen und vereinzelt auch mehrstöckigen Keller unter dem Marktplatz dienten vor allem den brauberechtigten Bürgern als Lagerkeller.

English Translation:
With the granting of market rights in the 13th century, “Schnaittach the village” developed alongside “Schnaittach the market.”

The owners of the town houses at the marketplace lived almost exclusively from crafts and trade. In addition, they often practiced agriculture to cover their own needs.

This gave rise to the so-called “farmer-burgher class” (Ackerbürgertum). After the destruction of the “little town on the Rothenberg” in 1449, “Schnaittach the market” experienced a growth surge, caused by the influx of craftsmen and merchants who had become homeless. The extensive cellars beneath the marketplace — partly interconnected and in some cases multi-storied - served primarily the brewing-privileged citizens as storage cellars.
