On this twenty-acre site, between the years 1894 and 1973. The lives of fifteen thousand students were shaped by a tradition of discipline, honor, and personal pride. This marker is dedicated to these men, to the teachers who inspired them, and to the peacock family who gave the gift of heritage.
Like the clear notes of silver taps, an echo lingers across the campus - - a sustained note - - and we can hear it still.
