Inscription. Originally owned by one of Vaughan's pioneer families, The McQuarrie Family. Lachlan McQuarrie brought his family to Maple in 1829 from New York City where he raised his three girls and five boys. After the deaths of Mr. & Mrs. McQuarrie, the children managed to support themselves, entering into politics and continuing to farm the homestead.
