1. Gantts Quarry Post Office Marker
Established in 1905, the Gantts Quarry Post Office served the Gantts Quarry community, the location of a marble quarry known for producing a pure white marble rivaling Italian marble. A tornado destroyed the building in 1932, and Alec Chappell carried out the necessary repairs to resume operations. This building served as the heart of the community until postal services ended in 1972. As the last remnant of Gantts Quarry, it serves as a reminder of a vanished town's significance in the local marble industry. The Sylacauga Historical Preservation and Conservation Society relocated it in 2004 to save it from demolition.
