Presented to the University of Washington by Rainier Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, assisted by the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution, by the Children of the Schools and by the Slate Commission of the Alaska-Yukon-Pacifie Exposition, all within the commonwealth bearing the name of Washington.

More about this memorial. In 1938, the statue was moved from the site pictured here to its current location at Red Square on the UW campus. The base was installed with the statue in the 1930s and is a 24-foot-high WPA-built sandstone pedestal.
