Inscription. The people of Aurora were always welcome here at "The Manor”, as it was known during the time of the Hillarys. The property provided ample space for residents and visitors to enjoy, relax, and celebrate.

The Hillary family loved hosting outdoor afternoon teas, picnics, and celebrations for locals and guests from out of town as was common in the Victorian and Edwardian periods. These social gatherings were a chance for the women of Hillary House to socialize and show off the latest fashions.

A joint wedding for Dorothy and Beatrice Hillary was held on the property in 1927, utilizing the beautiful scenery. The lawns also offered a natural playground and would have been bustling with the Hillary children and their friends as they played in the tree forts, dugouts, swings, and hammocks.
