The first Corpus Christi man to
lose his life in World War II


Born September 20, 1920 in Republic, Kansas, Yeoman Sherrill who was serving aboard the battleship Arizona, went down with his ship a few minutes after 8:00 A.M. December 7, 1941, at Pearl Harbor.

He was the first of the War Dead to be brought back to Corpus Christi, and was buried in Holy Cross Cemetery.
