Inscription.
Prior to 1956 the Army was the only service without a flag. Today's army flag was dedicated on June 14 (Flag Day) in 1956. The flag displays a replica of the war office seal. The Phrygian cap within the replica has the motto "This We'll Defend" written on a scroll around a rattlesnake.

In honor of the many Cone Mills employees who have served to protect our country.
