Inscription. This restaurant has a long history. The earliest record of an establishment at this location dates back to 1813. Arthur Patterson was granted a deed then, to the "Tavern Stand" consisting of Springville lots 153, 154 and 155. In 1812 Christian Hertzler had purchased land in this area and laid out a village he called Springville. He chose the name because of the ever-flowing spring that feeds the watering trough.
