1. McConaughy House Marker

Inscription.
John McConaughy came to San Diego in the mid-1880s after operating a large ranch in Northern California for most of his life. He died in 1889, just two years after building this house.

Mrs. Fanny Keating owned the home after McConaughy. Her husband died in 1888, leaving money to be used toward civic purposes. Fanny made the house available for use as a type of hospital, a need that her husband had championed.

Built 1887 at 1569 Union Street, San Diego.
Moved 1981 to Heritage Park Row.

Erected by County of San Diego Parks and Recreation.
