Frances Molera, Captain Cooper's granddaughter, willed the Cooper-Molera Adobe to the National Trust for Historic Preservation. In 1972 California State Parks leased the property and started its restoration as a Monterey State Historic Park house museum. When the lease ended in 2016, the National Trust reimagined the property as part of a shared-use agreement with commercial partners. This partnership will ensure the property's preservation for years to come.
